Siberians sound in body and mind
I bought my first Siberian Husky in 2000 and was instantly hooked. I am deeply indebted to my mentors during this period, Cindy Foggitt, Anne Wilson, and Lois Wilson, for their guidance and shared knowledge or the breed and dogs in general. After becoming involved in showing for a number of years, and later dry-land sledding, I felt I was ready to take on the responsibility of breeding a litter.
Breeding healthy Siberians that are sound in body and mind is my highest priority. I do SAVA eye clearance, as well as HD and ED testing. Temperament is very important since my dogs need to fit into the household as compatible companions. Most puppies will go to pet homes, where a stable and reliable temperament is crucial. My pups are raised under foot in the house as part of the pack. I spend a lot of time socialising the pups and enriching their environment.
The Siberian is a beautiful breed, but they are not suitable for all homes. They can be very stubborn and need firm, but kind handling. It is not the breed for a novice dog owner. I believe that the breeders remain responsible for the well-being of every pup they breed and require new owners to keep in contact throughout the dog's life. I am always available for advice, too. As well as constant evaluations, I require my pups to do an aptitude test in order to better match the correct pup with the right owner. I take a lot of pride in my dogs and my breeding, and there is nothing better than hearing from happy owners.
At home, we are extremely proud of our dogs that have raked up some wonderful awards during their show careers: at All-breeds shows, including Best Puppy in Show, Best Junior in Show, and Reserve Supreme Puppy 2011, and at Specialty Shows, Best Junior in Specialty Show, Reserve Best in Specialty Show, and Multi Best Veteran in Specialty Show.
