MBIS, MBISS, MBPIS, KUSA NAT PUP '13 Born: 26 October 2011 Every win, big or small, is always very special. But since "The Black Stallion" burst into our lives in 2012, this incredible boy has pushed the limits of our hopes and dreams to a totally unprecedented level. Word has it that DeNiro is South Africa's top-winning Saluki of all time! DeNiro has finished in the Animaltalk Top 100 five years in a row. This is his 3rd appearance in the Top 10.
At his very first show, DeNiro galloped off with Best Puppy in Show and finished his first year with several more Puppy in Show awards, also taking several BOBs and Group placings as a Puppy over Champion dogs! He missed a position in the Animaltalk Top 100 by 1 point! 2013 In addition to several Group wins and placings, he took his first All-breeds Best in Show, then followed this with the titles KUSA National Puppy '13, Supa 7's Hound Puppy Group, and WC Reserve Top Dog. His points finished him at #36 in the Animaltalk Top 100, and #5 Hound. 2014 Just coming into his own, 2014 saw DeNiro winning 4 All-breeds Best in Show awards, 3 RBIS and an FCI RBIS award. He once again qualified for TKC Supreme and Goldfields Dog of the Year, took multiple Group Firsts, and was once again awarded WC Reserve Top Dog. He finished the year in the Animaltalk ratings at #5 All-breeds and #3 Hound! 2015 DeNiro had another spectacular year in 2015, taking 3 RBIS and several Group wins and placings. He was once again the top Saluki for the year and again qualified Goldfields Dog of the Year and the prestigious Supa 7's - this time, bringing home a Hound Group win! For the third consecutive year, he was awarded WC Res. Top Dog and then finished at #5 All-breeds and #2 Hound in the Animaltalk Top 100. 2016 In 2016, DeNiro was very lightly shown, competing only in the Western and Eastern Cape, but having earned another 2 RBIS awards and a Hound Speciality win, he ended at #18 in the Animaltalk Top 100 ratings and #3 Hound. He also did us proud by earning Top Hound and #3 All-breeds in the 2016 KUSA Show Dog of the Year awards ! 2017 2017 was, for sure, DeNiro's year! Now beautifully mature, he owned the ring and gained followers among Saluki enthusiasts around the world. He earned his International and Grand Championships, and topped his magnificent performances with a further 8 All-breeds Best in Show awards and a RBIS, 2 FCI Best in Show awards, and 2 Hound Specialty wins. One of his most memorable BIS wins was under the world-renowned Mr Frank Kane! This year he did not compete at the prestigious WC Top Dog event, but his young son flew the flag, winning WC Reserve Top Hound. (The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree!). He ended the 2017 show year as #1 Saluki, #1 Hound, and #3 All-breeds in the Animaltalk Top 100 ratings.
DeNiro has been piloted to his many wins by some of our top handlers in South Africa – Helen Theron, Andria Haskins, Mandy Brookes, Michelle Jackson, Neil de Kock, and Anja Le Roux. Our heartfelt thanks to all of you for making dreams come true! We warmly thank all the judges who have found quality in this remarkable boy and, to our wonderful friends and supporters in South Africa and worldwide, thank you, thank you - you bring a breath of encouragement to this crazy game we play.
