MBIS, MBISS, MRBIS Just a young gun, with a quick fuse.
Thunder has never been an easy dog to show, giving his co-owner and handler, Neil, a heck of a time by doing a few double backflips and some neat avoidance tactics to prevent the Judges getting in his space! He certainly provided some entertainment to the ringside! It took a lot of patience, sensitive handling, and some embarrassing moments before Thunder finally decided to behave like a show dog at the the age of 2 ½ years. But don't be fooled! Just like his illustrious sire, "DeNiro", MBIS MRBIS MBISS MRBISS Int.Ch., Gr.Ch. KUSA Nat Pup '13, Elamir Classic Design for Fleetwind (Imp Por) in his youth, he also sometimes catches Neil off-guard in the ring, and tries and back out of his lead to go for a frolic around the showgrounds and cause mayhem in the process! In 2018, Thunder was ranked #1 Saluki, #4 Hound and #13 All-breeds in the Animaltalk Top 100 Ratings. This was an exceptional achievement, as he only attended 18 All-breed shows during the year and, despite his shenanigans in the ring, turned in a sterling performance. He was ranked in the KUSA Top 10 Show Dogs for 2018. At the start of 2019, Thunder hit the ground running! He finally decided he was a show dog and proved it over and over again! He started the year with an All-breeds Best in Show and a Reserve Best in Show at the first shows in the Cape. He continued his winning streak with multiple Group wins and placings and four more Best in Show awards and three Reserve Best in Show awards. He was awarded KUSA Show Dog Hound of the Year 2019 and ranked in the KUSA Top 10 Show Dogs. Thunder has been awarded an All-breeds Best in Show award in all the major showing centres in South Africa! We were delighted when he won Best in the Show at the KUSA Classic 2019 Championship show! Another super achievement for our boy was winning Reserve Western Cape Top Dog 2019, the same title that has been won by his sire, DeNiro three times. 2019 ended on a high for Thunder, hitting the ball right out of the park! He is #1 Saluki for the 2nd year running, #1 Hound, and #4 All-breeds in the Animaltalk Top 100 Ratings! We are Ab-Saluki thrilled!
