----------------------------------
With both our Scottish Terrier boys, Radley and Bentley, qualifying for the prestigious Western Cape Top Dog & Puppy Invitational Event,we reflect on a magnificent and rewarding show year:
Our focus 2019 has been Radley and he has, over the past twelve months of his campaign, not put a foot wrong. At the first All-breed Championship Show of the year, hosted by the Roodepoort & Districts Kennel Club, Rads kicked the year off on a high, howing true Terrier attitude and showmanship - not deterred by the deluging rain and thunderstorms on the day - to be awarded his first Best in Show of his career under well-respected International Judge, Mr. Svein Helgesen of Norway. He continued his winning ways in partnership with his Rockstar handler, Tyrone Goode, growing from strength to strength, to be awarded by both Local and International Judges for his outstanding breed type, character and movement to currently being ranked #1 Terrier & #2 All-breeds on the 2019 AnimalTalk Top 100 Ratings (Points 18 October 2019) and #1 Terrier & #4 All-breeds on the KUSA Show Dog of the Year 2020 Points Table (27 October 2019), making Team Rads a force to be reckoned with.
One of the all-time highlights of this year has been Radley achieving his KUSA Supreme Champion title, and Bentley, his Champion title (Breed). It was a huge honour for our Scottish Terrier to be among the first group of showdogs in South Africa to gain Supreme Champion status since KUSA introduced the title earlier the year. Both boys also showed their diversity outside the show ring by achieving Canine Good Citizen Bronze and Silver awards this year and will be working their way towards Gold next year. Another major achievement for Radley, this year, has been to be awarded both the 2019 TKC Supreme Champion and JCKC Grand National Champion Challenge title sin a nail-biting finale from a superb short-listed line-up of South Africa's Best in Show All-breed winners, Grand & Supreme Champions. We are extremely proud and honoured that both our boys qualities are consistently being recognised and awarded, making them proud ambassadors for this characterful breed. Huge gratitude to all the judges, both local and international, for thinking so highly of our boys and a special thanks to their breeders, Derek & Betty Smit-Kamerbeek of the Lucia's Dream Kennel in the Netherlands , for producing dogs of this quality.
Hip-hip hoorah and many thanks to all our wonderful show friends tha tstood by Team Rads and encouraged and cheered us at ringside throughout the year. Your incredible support keeps us reaching for the stars. We can't wait to celebrate the year with friends and to showcase our Scotsmen's magic on the red carpet at Top Dog later the week.
