Banstock G.I.Joe of Lagratitude Born: 12 November 2013 “Born in the USA - Raised in the RSA” Banstock G.I. Joe came from a repeat breeding of a successful litter by American Grand Champion Windover's Hey There Handsome and American Grand Champion Banstock Bewitched by Highpoint. There was only one male in the litter, and at the early stages of development, Joe was not the “shining star,” among several beautiful bitch puppies, but I was determined and confident to get this pup from the litter. As days passed, we started to see the star quality in him. I was determined to take a male from this litter in the hope that the quality of the parents would shine through. “Clooney”, the sire, is an American Best in Show and Speciality-winning Bullmastiff. Clooney started his show career early and reached fame in his year of campaigning becoming #1 or #2 Bullmastiff breed and All-breeds during the course of the year. Helene Nietsch wanted "Clover", the dam, to reach Grand Champion status. Although taken out on a very limited basis, Clover became a Multiple Speciality and Group-placing bitch, ending up in the top 10 All-breeds during her brief campaign. This could not be written without knowing the success of the first litter of this breeding, their early success in the show ring, and the temperament of the litter and the parents. Both Clooney and Clover have true Bullmastiff temperament - confident, loyal and most affectionate with their family. As the weeks went by, Joe seemed to develop into something special. It became apparent that by eight weeks, he was likely the pick of the litter, with outstanding hindquarters, short back and a beautiful, typey head … not to mention his star quality presence. This American G.I. would soon join his half-sister, Liberty Bell, in South Africa. He has developed beyond our expectations and has already achieved note-worthy awards in the show ring:
