At only the age of 8.5 months, Maya has won the following at only 5 shows, competing against the top Labradors in the country:

• BPISS: 1 (Labrador Championship Show 2020)
• BPIG: 2
• BPIG 2nd x 2
• Gundog Group: 4th in Main Gundog Group
• BOB 1
• CC's 3 (All under the age of 9 months)
• RCCs 2
• BPIB 5 (out of 5 shows)

Maya's thoughts of this ‘show business':

"As a new kid on the block, I don't have any fancy titles yet! My dad, Matthys, said it is really ‘cool' and he will allow me to win sometimes…. He just didn't realise I was going to do it so soon, as a little girl! I didn't really know what the big thing was and why everyone was so excited around me! Everyone was kissing me and jumping up and down! I think I am beginning to like this show business. You get all sorts of treats as well! I might have done something right! But mom said the 2 trees I chewed off at home was totally a different story!"

Thania says:

In the early weeks of her life, this little girl really attracted my attention. She was a little bit chubby at first but I could see she had real potential. I was totally overwhelmed when she stepped into the show ring and started to win - a real show girl.

During the Covid 19 pandemic, we didn't really have a much socialising with other people and dogs, but the Labrador Retriever Kennel Club hosted a few ringcraft training sessions, which really made a huge difference. When Maya went to her first championship shows, she proved to be a natural in the ring and enjoyed every moment of it. You could almost see her smiling!

The highlight of her short career was when she stood next to her dad “Matthys” (BISS), having won Best Puppy in Show under esteemed Gundog Specialist Judge, Dale Fabian, at the LRKC Championship Show 2020. Thank you for recognising this little girl and my other dogs on the day. This was a huge compliment and a big honour, coming from you! (At the time of judging Ms Dale Fabian didn't know any of my dogs who won were related)

A big thank you to my handlers, Jane and Amy Kiefer, for handling Maya so superbly!

This charismatic little girl typifies the perfect temperament of a Labrador, and it is so rewarding to see all her good qualities.

She is everything, and more, that I could have hoped for!
